Deck the halls with bells of holly? The holiday season can be filled with joy and celebration but can also feel very stressful. There’s gift shopping, cooking, decorating, and holiday parties. With the long list of to-do items and a full schedule, it can begin to feel overwhelming. There’s pressure to be the perfect mom or wife, or the perfect husband or dad. The pressure could be trying to do every tradition from hot chocolate bars to gingerbread house making.
It can start to feel so stressful that it is no longer joyous. Are we stressing so much about doing all the things for everyone that it isn’t any fun for us? How do we care for ourselves when we are trying to make this time of year special for everyone else?
Do one thing at a time and try not to overwhelm yourself with tasks.
Also, take a moment to do something for yourself, whether that means go for that run you enjoy in the morning, or read the book you enjoy under a blanket. Do the things you enjoy and take a little bit of time for yourself. Self-care can help to recharge and re-energize you. It’s okay to not sew all the holiday outfits or send everyone you know a Christmas card.
Until next time, stay motivated.
